The Beacon is presented with a Pride of Exmouth award

Recognition was received for our pupils when Exmouth Tidy Group selected us as winners of the youth 'Pride of Exmouth' award.  Presented by the mayor, the award reflects the work we do in the community, both near and far, to show our love for people and places.

 

 

An 'Outstanding' School (2011)

Inspectors judge The Beacon as 'Outstanding' in all areas stating, 'This is a unique school where children, staff, parents, governors and the church community all work together to show Christian love in action.'

 

Ofsted (2011) find that

Pupils enjoy some outstanding teaching and make good progress

Fundraising for Burkina Faso raises £6526.75

 

Our efforts continue to raise £5000 for Burkina Faso, the seventh poorest country in the world have resulted in an amazing £6526.75 being presented to Christian Aid.  This money will now be multiplied up to £32,633.75 through an EU scheme meaning that our efforts have the potential to make the difference to a whole community in Burkina Faso.    Parents and friends from the Community were invited to join us for a 'picnic in the playground' with musical entertainment as we handed over our cheque.

 

Exempla practice recognised... again!

 

Our school has again been used by Devon Ethnic Minority Achievement Advisory Service as an example of good practice.  Our work to integrate pupils who speak English as a foreign language and to build relationships between all children in our community has been recorded for a DVD entitled 'Making a Difference' aimed at improving provision in schools across Devon.
